With four centers of orthopaedic excellence, we offer one-stop convenience and expertise for evaluating and treating your specific orthopaedic needs. These centers include the Foot and Ankle Center, with services provided by Dr. Blake Ohlson; the Hand and Upper Extremity Center with services provided by Dr. John Ernst and Dr. James Price Jr.; Spine Care Center directed by Dr. James Aymond; and the Sports Medicine Center with services provided by Dr. Kenneth Caldwell, Dr. John Graham Jr. and Dr. Robert Schoderbek.



James Aymond, MD
Dr. James Aymond is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and specializes in the evaluation and treatment of conditions of the spine, including cervical and lumbar disc replacement, as well as spinal fusions and lumbar discectomy for sciatica. He completed medical school at Louisiana State University, a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Duke University Medical Center, and an adult spine fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical School. Dr. Aymond has more than 17 years experience as a spinal surgeon, and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, as well as the North American Spine Society.
Kenneth Caldwell, MD
Dr. Kenneth Caldwell is a sports medicine specialist board certified in orthopaedic surgery. He received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and did his residency in orthopaedic surgery at Wake Forest University / NC Baptist Hospital, followed by a sports medicine fellowship at the Hughston Sports Medicine Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. Dr. Caldwell is the team physician for a local college, and is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
John Graham Jr., MD
Dr. John Graham Jr. specializes in the evaluation and treatment of sports injuries and in knee and shoulder surgery. He is board certified in orthopaedic surgery and completed both his medical degree and residency in orthopaedic surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC). He completed a sports medicine fellowship at the Hughston Orthopaedic Clinic in Columbus, Georgia. Dr. Graham is the team physician for a local college and is a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, as well as the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
John Ernst, MD
Dr. John Ernst specializes in the comprehensive evaluation and treatment of all hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder disorders and is board certified in orthopaedic surgery. He completed his medical degree and residency in orthopaedics at the University of Rochester and a fellowship in hand and microvascular surgery at Indiana University / St. Vincent Hospital. Dr. Ernst is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, as well as the American Society for Surgery of the Hand.
James Price Jr., MD
Dr. James Price Jr. is an upper extremity specialist focusing on disorders of the hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder. He is board certified in orthopaedic surgery with more than 23 years of experience in private practice in Charleston. He completed his medical degree at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Wake Forest University / NC Baptist Hospital, followed by a fellowship in hand surgery at the Thomas Jefferson Medical Center. His interests are in reconstructive hand surgery, arthroscopy of major upper extremity joints and total shoulder replacements. He also specializes in non-surgical alternatives to Dupytren’s Contracture, and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.
Blake Ohlson, MD
Dr. Blake Ohlson specializes in treating a variety of foot and ankle disorders including sports injuries, trauma and reconstruction. He completed medical school at Case Western Reserve University and a residency in orthopaedic surgery at Michigan State University. Dr. Ohlson completed a foot and ankle fellowship at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland and is board certified in orthopaedic surgery. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society.
Robert Schoderbek, MD
Dr. Robert Schoderbek is a sports medicine specialist and is board certified in orthopaedic surgery. He received his medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), completed his residency at the University of Virginia followed by a fellowship at the American Sports Medicine Institute. Dr. Schoderbek is the medical director for the Roper St. Francis Sports Medicine Program, the team physician for a local high school, and a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine as well as the Arthroscopy Association of North America.
Kate Eden, PA-C
Kate Eden is a certified physician assistant who has worked as a PA for orthopaedic foot and ankle specialist Dr. Blake Ohlson since 2008. She received a master’s degree from The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and a bachelor’s degree in behavioral neuroscience from Lehigh University. Kate has specialized in orthopaedic surgery since receiving her PA degree in 2006 and is an active member of the Organization for Physician Assistants in orthopaedic surgery.
Kelly Bailey Kruse, PA-C
Kelly Kruse is a certified physician assistant with more than 12 years experience in orthopaedics. She completed her master's in exercise physiology at the University of Virginia and her physician assistant's training at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) where she worked with the Department of Orthopaedics.
Erin Watrobski, PA-C, ATC
Erin Watrobski is a certified physician assistant and certified athletic trainer who specializes in sports medicine. She completed her bachelor's degree in sports medicine at the College of Charleston and completed her master's in Physician Assistant Studies at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC).
Penni Vachon, ANP-BC, ONC
Penni Vachon is a board certified adult nurse practitioner and orthopaedic nurse specialist and has spent her entire nursing career in orthopaedics. She completed her graduate training at the University of Alabama, and is a member of the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
