Prior to joining Orthopaedic Specialists in 1991, Dr. John M. Graham, Jr. completed a Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Hughston Orthopaedic Clinic in Columbus, Georgia.  Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, he is a specialist in the evaluation and treatment of sports injuries and in knee and shoulder surgery. Dr. Graham began his medical training in Charleston at the Medical University of South Carolina after graduating from Covenant College in Tennessee, and he continued in a general surgery internship and orthopaedic residency at MUSC.

Dr. Graham serves as a physician for all College of Charleston team sports, including basketball, cross country, soccer, tennis, and baseball.  He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and has served as medical director for the Carolina Center for Athletes.   Dr. Graham has presented and published papers on knee fractures and current concepts of the knee, aspects of total knee replacement, rehabilitation after shoulder and knee surgery, and muscle and ankle injuries in athletes.

He is a member of the Education Committee of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the Hughston Society. He is presently the state coordinator for the Southern Orthopaedic Association.   In addition to his

professional affiliations concerning injury care and prevention, Dr. Graham is active in promoting wellness and the healthy lifestyle he enjoys.
