Dr. James L. Price, Jr. has served on the staffs of
Roper and St. Francis Hospitals. He has also been Chief of Staff
of East Cooper Regional Medical Center and serves as a member of the
Board. A cum laude graduate of Wofford College, Dr. Price earned his
M.D. at the Medical University of South Carolina after being selected
for the honor Fraternity of Alpha Omega Alpha. Dr. Price completed his
internship and residency at Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake
Forest University in Winston Salem, NC as well as a Hand Surgery
Fellowship under the direction of Dr. James M. Hunter at the Hand
Rehabilitation Center of Philadelphia and Thomas Jefferson Medical
Center.
He is board certified by the American Board of
Orthopaedic Surgery, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic
Surgeons, and a founding member and past president of the Charleston
Orthopaedic Society. Dr. Price is a board member of the
International Children’s Advocacy Network (ICAN) and has traveled
to Romania several times as a visiting surgeon. He has also
volunteered with Physicians for Peace to the Middle East.
Dr. Price specializes in diseases and trauma of the
upper extremities; arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, elbow and
wrist; and joint replacement in the upper limb. He has a special
interest in rotator cuff reconstruction and rehabilitation.
Carpal tunnel syndrome, tendinitis and arthritis of the hand are
commonly seen in his practice.
